District Health Department #4 is Hiring a Public Health Nurse Near Alpena, MI

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE- Alpena- FULL TIME (35 Hours per week)

Classification: Public Health Nurse- Registered Nurse

AFSCME Union Position, Non-exempt O*NET 29-1141.04

General Summary: A licensed registered nurse working to assist the public and serve their needs in the areas of Women, Infants, & Children (WIC), Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP), communicable disease, immunizations, children’s special health care, and other Health Department services.

Duties:

  • Providing skilled nursing care to individuals/families with their needs both in office, via tele-health, in home, and off-site.
  • Complete and maintain accurate, adequate, and timely records in computer software products such as Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records software, and similar products.
  • Utilize effective communication and conflict resolution skills to serve clientele in a tactful, objective, respectful manner while maintaining privacy and HIPAA compliance.

Requirements:

  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Michigan.
  • Ability to provide services to vulnerable populations in a culturally competent, inclusive, and non-judgmental manner.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license/identification and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages beneficial.

Salary: $24.48 per hour, increasing to $25.89 after successful probationary period, in accordance with current Union contract plus full benefit package. $25.24 per hour, increasing to $26.61 after successful probationary period, for Bachelor prepared RN.
